Colors of Healing, May 1

In partnership with Sanchez Art Center, Kids & Art children from 4 to 24 are getting ready for a memorable occasion. The kids are being paired one-on-one with artists to create art that the center will display in a unique exhibit, the 10/10 Show: Colors of Healing. The professionals, practicing Bay Area artists, will be creating pieces of their own to exhibit. The pieces will be inspired by working alongside the child, by the child's piece and as a reflection of the theme chosen for this project: "Colors of Healing." Creative responses to the experimentation in this format are sure to vary and bring forth a colorful evocation of the theme.

While showing their work together is one thing, making the art before the show is a chance to begin the journey of co-creating and forging a connection between separate worlds and separate works. Colors of Healing is a super exciting project for us in that Sanchecz Art Center will be giving these children a wonderful chance to experience what many artists work towards: an exhibit.

The pieces created for the exhibit will hang together and be displayed side by side to highlight how each may have influenced the other and to show the synergistic result of the collaborative work. We're sure just geting to know the work is headed for this very special art exhibition will make the workshop a highlight of our season.

Opening night reception: Friday, June 3

Kids & Art will also host a special reception on Sunday June 5 for our families and patrons.

Amidst wine, hors d'oeuvres and music, the public will be invited to view the show, and help celebrate the artists--those in attendance will be on hand to discuss their collaborative experience.
